Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 5, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Daniel Johnson d/b/a PickleLore (“PickleLore,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the PickleLore website and application at picklelore.com (the “Service”).

1. Information We Collect

Account information. When you register, we collect your name or username, email address, and a password. Passwords are stored in hashed form; we cannot see them.

Group and gameplay information. The Service exists to record recreational pickleball activity. Group administrators enter information including group names, player names, match scores, dates, session details, and derived statistics such as win/loss records and head-to-head histories.

Information about you entered by others. If you play in a group tracked on PickleLore, your group’s administrator may enter your name and match results even if you do not have an account. See Section 5 for how to request removal.

Technical information. Like most websites, we automatically receive certain technical data, including IP address and browser type. We use only cookies necessary for login sessions and site security. We do not use analytics or advertising cookies.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service, including calculating statistics, records, and match histories
  • Create and secure your account and authenticate logins
  • Send transactional emails such as registration confirmations and password resets
  • Process subscription payments and send billing-related notices
  • Respond to support requests
  • Protect the Service against abuse, spam, and unauthorized access

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

3. How Information Is Shared

Within your group. PickleLore is a shared record book. Player names, scores, and statistics you or your group administrator enter are visible to other members of your group, including anyone who accesses the group using its access PIN or shared link. Do not enter information into the Service that you would not want visible to everyone your administrator shares access with.

Joint sessions. If your group participates in a joint session with another group, the match results from that session are visible to both groups.

Service providers. We use third-party providers to operate the Service, currently including WP Engine (website hosting), an email delivery provider (for transactional emails), and a payment processor for paid subscriptions. Payment card details are collected and processed directly by the payment processor; we never see or store full card numbers. These providers process data only on our behalf.

Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of PickleLore or others.

4. Data Retention

We retain account and gameplay information for as long as your account or your group’s records remain active — the Service’s purpose is a permanent record book, so match histories are kept indefinitely by default. If you delete your account or request removal, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law. Note that removing a player’s name may anonymize rather than delete match records, so that the remaining players’ histories stay accurate.

5. Your Choices and Rights

  • Access and correction. You may view and update your account information by logging in, or by contacting us.
  • Deletion. You may request deletion of your account, or of your name from a group’s records, by emailing hello@picklelore.com. If your information was entered by a group administrator and you do not have an account, you may make the same request and we will honor it.
  • Email. Transactional emails (password resets, receipts) are necessary to operate the Service. We will not send marketing email without your consent, and any marketing email will include an unsubscribe link.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable law, such as the right to access, correct, delete, or port your data. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@picklelore.com.

6. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through account registration. Group administrators are responsible for obtaining any necessary parental consent before entering the name of a player under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13 without consent, contact us at hello@picklelore.com and we will remove it.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including hashed passwords and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated policy on this page with a new effective date and, where appropriate, notify registered users by email.
